[Ko Lanta] : Taking the Less Travelled, When Rocks Betray in Klong Nin

With a quite scary sea, it was lazy beach time for me– 04.02.15

Klong Nin

A 20-minute tuktuk ride took me to a relatively more secluded beach called KLONG NIN with waters that scared the hell out of me the first time with its suddenly steep bed and unpredictable rocks. These rocks were revealed to be quite many during the latter part of the afternoon when tide got low. Nonetheless found a spot where I could swim but with some kind of curfew at only about noon.

It was then more of a lazy day at the beach (finally had time to read!), some walking in the midst of heat and stopping by at bars to chill a bit until sundown. Night spent on a beach chair with the water now near the shore before calling it a night before next day’s early goodbye.

[Krabi and Phuket] ~ Hop across Versions of Sand and Sea

Probably my longest alone travel yet, spent days hopping across different beaches in this country’s Andaman side. Literally changing beaches (and hostels!) each day with my overpacked bag under the heat from the sun that’s stronger than home, it was the least of the typically desired chill beach trip. To me however, it is still a fun way to do some scanning to help me decide which areas to eventually go back to to spend more days on.

Still sorting out photos all over my camera and phone but initially sharing an amateur take on each of the beaches I’ve set foot on. Amateur, yes because while alone travel forces one to be more observant, it is not an instinct I own and I just tend to stick with the random ‘realizations’ when going places. Or maybe if you haven’t been there yet, time to go see for yourself then!

[Bolinao, Pangasinan] ~ Love is in the Air and Sea : Patar Beach (2 of 2)

Not only because it was Valentine’s Day.  – 02.14-15.15

>>>>>

Pardon me for the cheesy title but this entry (and the trip) was not intended to be in celebration of Hearts’ Day but simply another weekend of going places together. This time a “lagari” to an odd combo of a festival of everything that flies and a let’s-push-this trip to the beach. 20150215_105346

First the air, now the sea!

[Liwliwa, Zambales] ~ A Revisit to a Start

A retrace to where we were almost a year ago. And a celebration of where we are now. 01.31-02.01.15

LIwliwa

It was a weekend where we were first together literally and were together officially.

We’ve been wanting to go back to this place in gratefulness of its sentimental to us but schedule got messed up that we had to be there a month in advance our first year. Interestingly close to a reenactment of the first – we arrived separately and had the right mix of moments together and apart; this again over beer, lazy beach dogs, sunset, stars and early morning cold.

[San Juan, La Union] ~ Versions of Sea from South to North (2 of 2)

Semi-spontaneous beach trips a first this year, thanks to an unexpected long holiday due to some Holy –

01.18-19.15.

La Union

Spent the long weekend in beaches in opposite places in Luzon – a solo overnight camping trip in Burot Beach in Calatagan followed by days with Allen at The Circle, La Union.

Except some common denominators (people-watch and witness of the always lovely day-end and beer), two beaches are opposites as while first was calm, the other took pride in waves I as always was not a bit courageous to play with. Trip in La Union also included angsty encounters with, well, my equally crazy boyfriend (and I am sure he would disagree), multiple attempts at selfies, an unexpected re-meet with a friend from work and that feast on people’s painted thoughts The Circle is known for.

[Magalawa Island, Palauig] : Lazy Weekend

For each beach has a character, this an island of contradictions.

-10.04-06.14

Magalawa

Weekend spent in this island, which I said is one of contradictions with its interesting history of land dispute yet it is inhabited by an adorably protective community of beach dogs (two of which we shared our junk breakfast with), fishing community friendliest to non-locals and based on our experience, best neighbor guests generously giving us background music that are versions of Eraserheads songs. While we have proven that the reviews are true that the land is also home to those insects called “anik-anik” and maybe some sand creatures too, this beach trip I could say is worth it. I rarely comment about the water and the sand so I wanted to share more of the vibe which made us just unusually lazy that weekend in our spot by the hammock we attached to this tree with seemingly trapped spirits. Read up for more stories and snapshots!

[Pundaquit, San Antonio] : Beach Again, Finally!

For an introvert traveler, this weekend is precious. – 09.06-07.14

Pundaquit

Weekend that Allen finally got his dose of beach and that customary 24/7 booze when in one of our favorite places (and yes, while it was always RockOn that was in the photos, he wasn’t one who drank it all). It was a quick but recharging a day and half of talk, drink and eat (yep, even for Allen) with friends new and not-so-new as well as bipolar weather that kind of matches, well, (ahem!) our tendencies.
