[Bulubadiangan Island, Concepcion] ~ Camp on a Sandbar Island

A first to kill every time of day in a sandbar island – 05.02-03.15

Having spent the previous night in ILOILO CITY, took an early commute trip to CONCEPCION TOWN where I was suddenly an adopted member of family of four who I had to share boat with. (I was prepared for a thousand-peso damage with a solo boat ride to the sandbar but the helpful tourist office managed to score me a ride with other guests to island).

I was at the sandbar midday and from then on walked around finding good spots for sitting and ‘swimming’. When tide was low, I was given a treat of a resident little tour guide walking me through anything exposed with no water on, and quite forcibly encouraging me to play with their dogs whose version of play is quite brutal and involves biting, which was their kind of play as he said so. It was then time for sunset and hours of sleep so near the sea.

In the morning had an attempt to read but ended up finishing only one story, randomly picked one that involved boxing (timely for Pacman’s fight that day). Remaining hours in BULUBADIANGAN spent on the shifting sandbar –  called such because it apparently shifts depending on wind direction –  which finally, I was able to have by myself.

[Guimaras] ~ Visit to Sites on Land and Sea

A day on a red tricycle around an island town  – 05.01.15

Guimaras

Unable to book a room in the island itself, it was a day of touring the island town of Guimaras – one filled with encounter with the SMALLEST PLAZA in the Philippines (and apparently, once a record-holder in Guinness as such), stops at THE PITSTOP for mango overload of pizza and pasta and at TRAPPIST MONASTERY for some yet again mango treats, setting foot in tall places to view other islands, sea and sky faraway, sand-collecting and water-testing in GUISI and ALUBIHOD beaches and a tour-ender at the town’s high spot which locals (and guest pilgrims) believe to be holy.

[Manila] ~ An Afternoon with the Lazies at Cat Cafe Manila

Because everyone deserves a lazy afternoon – 05.16.15

Cat Cafe Manila

I love cats (and dogs, too) but I seem to not have the aura of the kind of human that they naturally / instinctively gravitate to. That, however, did not stop me from wanting to visit as many dog, cat or whatever else animal cafes.

My first cat cafe experience happened in Korea but my visit to Cat Cafe Manila was worth telling, not only because it is one of the first cat cafes in the Philippines, it is also uniquely home because it takes care of puspins (pusang Pinoy) instead of the ones with breed.

Been-to Places in a Luggage Cover

Yey to receiving this luggage cover from Wanderskye yesterday!

It was oddly shaped as an oversized one-piece swimsuit but I was so excited that I started coloring while still at the office. It was a humbling experience having realized how little of the world I have seen; biggest ones I owe to my work which gave me the opportunity to travel. I wished though that I could mark the specific states I was in. That would make this cover less colorful but more accurate. Nonetheless inspiring to have the money and the time to go see (and color) as many!

Wanderskye is proudly a local/Filipino brand. You may order online here . Several interesting designs are to choose from. The one I got comes with a free Sharpie pen for the coloring. 😀

[Bolinao, Pangasinan] ~ Love is in the Air and Sea : Patar Beach (2 of 2)

Not only because it was Valentine’s Day.  – 02.14-15.15

>>>>>

Pardon me for the cheesy title but this entry (and the trip) was not intended to be in celebration of Hearts’ Day but simply another weekend of going places together. This time a “lagari” to an odd combo of a festival of everything that flies and a let’s-push-this trip to the beach. 20150215_105346

First the air, now the sea!

[Liwliwa, Zambales] ~ A Revisit to a Start

A retrace to where we were almost a year ago. And a celebration of where we are now. 01.31-02.01.15

>>>>>

LIwliwa

It was a weekend where we were first together literally and were together officially.

We’ve been wanting to go back to this place in gratefulness of its sentimental to us but schedule got messed up that we had to be there a month in advance our first year. Interestingly close to a reenactment of the first – we arrived separately and had the right mix of moments together and apart; this again over beer, lazy beach dogs, sunset, stars and early morning cold.

[San Juan, La Union] ~ Versions of Sea from South to North (2 of 2)

Semi-spontaneous beach trips a first this year, thanks to an unexpected long holiday due to some Holy –

01.18-19.15.

La Union

Spent the long weekend in beaches in opposite places in Luzon – a solo overnight camping trip in Burot Beach in Calatagan followed by days with Allen at The Circle, La Union.

Except some common denominators (people-watch and witness of the always lovely day-end and beer), two beaches are opposites as while first was calm, the other took pride in waves I as always was not a bit courageous to play with. Trip in La Union also included angsty encounters with, well, my equally crazy boyfriend (and I am sure he would disagree), multiple attempts at selfies, an unexpected re-meet with a friend from work and that feast on people’s painted thoughts The Circle is known for.
