Again had a feast on Hongdae’s busy-ness. 10.23-24.14
>>>>>
For my second leisure trip to Korea, I chose to again stay in this neighborhood as I personally love its vibe and its proximity to many. And as in my previous trip , I enjoyed walking around the area, this time with more time to go around and unintentionally realized the theme of my walking to be fun shop names and on top of that this find of a popular yummy chicken snack.
It has always been a pain too how it is difficult to find a bar that would let you go solo (I think that for Koreans, eating and drinking are social activities). However, found advantage because what I did on my second night was buy in-cans from convenience stores, walk around and stop to watch street performances whenever and wherever. When nature calls, even had sneaky moves at a nearby Taco Bell to find relief. 😀
Right across my hostel is this sophisticated dessert place
~~~
Go ape or go up? (Ahem, reminded of my monkey-like boyfriend :D)
~~~
Screaming B.O.B.O. (“Bobo” by the way means stupid in Filipino)
~~~
Because Cafe BingBingBing sounds better (and safer) than BangBangBang.
~~~
Usual scenario with map on hand
~~~
Just spelling it out this is what we do in this salon
~~~
Got curious when noticed these students lining up at this stall
~~~
YUM. Glad I gave in to curiosity.
~~~
What a face, girlfriend!
~~~
Met again this fun stationery stuff place!
~~~
There’s more to BB than “BB” creams
~~~
Quite a number of creamy beer cafes in the area
~~~
As there are portions of the street that is not for the claustrophobe
~~~
A craft beer with my hostel roommate (which I failed to take a photo of!)
~~~
ON MY SECOND DAY, I AGAIN WANDERED THE STREETS OF HONGDAE
Not as surprising as we also have this crowd in our railway stations in Manila. But yes, busiest station I have experienced in Korea so far
~~~
Profile is quite interesting too as they are mostly students
~~~
We meet again, “perya-like” corner
~~~
Just one of many street performers
~~~
Hmm. Why is word this recurring?
(“Boba” means stupid as well, except that it refers specifically to a female)
~~~
For some, there is something strange with the bread and cocks combination
~~~
I do hope there is xylophone gig in here.
~~~
Yes to Young Emotional Story
~~~
Some magic
~~~
.. and some boyband-ish solo act (kind of contradicting huh)
~~~
“Love Actually”-inspired store!
~~~
My walking and gig buddy that night
~~~
And from my spot above is this beer place I went to a year ago!
~~~
Some kind of street party
~~~
Even Grandpa was enjoying
~~~
At H & M Stage
~~~
Hmm. Who wants his studio picture taken at Funny Photo
~~~
Move over, The Face Shop
How to get to Hongdae :
Station nearest to Hongdae are Hongdae / Hongik University Stations and Hapjeong. If you are after the busier part, go down at Exit 9 in Hongik. There is nearby KFC and other establishments.
If you prefer a quiet neighborhood to stay in yet near Hongdae, you may try looking for one in the opposite street of the busy Hongdae area or get one in Hapjeong. In 2013, I stayed at Cozzzy GuestHouse while in 2014, in Central Hongdae Pencil Hostel – Zzzip . (And I realized just now how much I love Zs.)
